There are two kinds of electric shaver:
a) Foil
b) Rotatory Head(as popularly used by Philips Norelco)
Both Foil and Rotatory Head shaver - wont be better in shaving as compared with Gillete Blades.
However they come close to shaving - and they save lots of time(and arguably money - depending on usage).
In Foil vs Rotatory Head - the Foil ones will have better/closer shave -however Rotatory
Head are good for bigger area(eg chest ) and around edges.
Best Foil : Braun Series 7 followed closely by Panasonic. However Panasonic ones
also can be used for "wet shave" (some people have skin irritation in dry shave - which
is what is used by Braun)
Braun Series 7 (760cc ) can be got for 179 at target etc. Braun Series 3 can be got for 99$
at Target, walmart etc
Best Rotatory Head: Philips Norelco(good for chest etc - not for face)
Catch : Beware of extra cost of replacement of blades or cleaning liquids.
Main Observation:
Electric shaver will NOT be as good as say Gillette manual shaving blade
as the manufacturers have to be careful not to make it powerful enough
to cut skin . They are also UNLIKELY to save time (or cut around edges
like beard etc).. They however can be good time saver(car, airport) - and
may be good tool to shave around lips(without cutting it)
